THE UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE is open to all retired and semi-retired men and women. Unlike conventional universities, it requires no qualifications and awards no degrees. It does however kindle new interests, new activities and new friendships among older people. Learning takes place in Interest Groups, run by members for members, reflecting the enthusiasm of the individuals. A typical U3A will probably have 20 or more study groups and some lively recreational and physical activities.
